Shops closing soon and one...more...sale.

Thanks to everyone who made purchases during the past week and to everyone who has taken the time to reach out with kind and encouraging words regarding my upcoming trip to Saint Helena! You guys are wonderful!

Both my shops, the regular website and my Etsy shop, will be closing in less than 48 hours and as it stands now they will be closed until the end of the year. If there's any piece you've been interested in, now's the time.  I expect the next six months to be a period of growth as I learn and explore new materials. No doubt older designs will be culled in the process.

All the earrings here are from my one of a kind Redemption Series made from recycled polymer. There a little smaller than some of my pieces, very approachable, very light in weight. I've marked then all down by $10 - no coupon code needed.

All purchases will be shipped before I leave for Saint Helena of course and you will still be able to reach me if you ever have any questions or concerns about your jewelry as my website and email will remain active.

Have a great week!

Snowed-in Birthday Sale!

Not too uncommon for me, the weather man says I should probably plan to spend my birthday (January 24) snowed in. I think I liked this idea when I was a kid but somewhere along the way it lost it's charm. Someday I hope to celebrate another year of life in the southern hemisphere with a picnic and swimming but this year will most likely include coconut tumeric milk and a roaring fire.

I'll kick off a week long Birthday Sale in my Etsy shop on Sunday, Jan. 24 with new work, one of a kind pieces and old favorites. Use the coupon code BDAY2 when you are checking out for 20% off all total purchases.

For the first time in a long time...

One of the more upsetting Graves disease symptoms has been my inability to imagine.

More specifically I guess what really happens is that the hyperthyroidism disrupts my ability to focus, thoughts coming rapid fire and jumbled rather than orderly and sequential. At times I have even found it difficult to speak because I just can't put a sentence together. (Case in point, this is the first blog post since July.) New ideas felt like things I could only see in my peripheral vision.

I'll be honest, anything new you've seen from me since March has come about very slowly.

But then, during that half awake, half asleep time last Saturday morning I realized...I was imagining, thinking through a new earring shape, putting ideas together in my head. It was amazingly comforting. Imagining feels good to me, I guess its just part of who I am, and without it I felt disjointed and as an artist, handicapped in a way.

Recovery is a slow uphill march. I have good days and really not good days.  I might not reach remission and even if I do I very well may relapse. But I'm happy for every "normal" moment and I've made peace with the fact that after all the treatment I might have to have thyroid ablation anyway.

Thank you to everyone who has commented on posts and sent me emails - I'm sorry if I wasn't able to answer you directly! I really appreciate the kindness and encouragement!

And I'm happy to be posting new work this week. Four pairs of Convertible, mix and match earrings will be in the Etsy shop tomorrow by noon.

One week to go

Its hard to believe we have one week left in the UK. Sad. is what it is. There is so much to see. I recommend a year or more if you can afford it. Which we can't.

And with that I'll say that my Etsy shop is back up and running. All in stock items will ship July 9.

Clean up

I'm clearing out and cleaning up before I close the shop and leave for vacation next week. I've posted some components and beads for sale and they'll be more listed today. Everything is one of a kind sorts of things that were made while I was trying out a technique or color combination or something like that.

Earring components or maybe even necklace components

medium and large carved beads

I'll be "across the pond" for 3 weeks but the shop will probably only be closed for two…but more on that later.

Single strand bracelet

The single strand Fragment bracelets are going into the shop sometime today. Triple stranded ones should be ready some time next week.

If you have a pair of the Fragment stud earrings these are a perfect match - the carved beads are the same size.

Its about time

I finally got around to the hard work of completing my "About" page on Etsy. Why do I drag my feet on things like this? I don't know - uncomfortableness with talking about myself?  Its like exercise, writing about oneself. I don't necessarily enjoy it at the beginning but when its done I realize it was good for me because for some reason writing words about what I make helps me better understand what I make and why I make it.

Realizing that I could take bits of information from my website and elsewhere on my Etsy shop and just reconfigure, helped me get the job done because I didn't have to start from scratch.

I just finally started hanging artwork I've been collecting specifically for my studio. From left to right: print by Belinda Marshall, vintage map of one of my favorite parts of the world, photo by Merl Strunk taken of my husband while we were in college. I have some more prints, sitting in the foreground with the hammer, that need to be hung.
Needing to take the accompanying photos prompted a good clean up for my polymer work table too. So I guess its a win-win.

You can go here in my Etsy shop if you'd like to read a little more about me.

My husband made the earring storage/display piece for me by running wire around an antique wooden box. I have most of my finished work stored out of sight but I feel like I'd like to have my work out where I can see it.

6 weeks to go

Between finishing up the school year, spring cleaning and preparing for the trip I am managing to get some of my new work into the shop. (How? I do not know.)
Remember my SALE , now through May 30! (10% off and a handwritten postcard from one of the most remote islands in the world)

In the shop soon...can you help me think of a name for these?
Prismicolor as a highlight.
Indigo Ombre earrings
I think I'll carve these more and see what happens.
