This was the example pair of "convertible" earrings that I wore to the class I taught on Saturday (with new, never worn ear wires of course). And I'm giving them away today! They are three components that can be taken off, the back and middle can be flipped over for a different surface. So I think we counted over a dozen different ways you can wear them. The photos show a couple of the options.
The ear wires are polished sterling but I'd be happy to oxidized them for you if you'd like. The polymer is brass and white. As you can imagine they are super, super light weight.
So to join in the give-away leave a comment below - by that I will know that you like FREE jewelry but also tell me what you think about the idea of convertible jewelry, parts and pieces that come apart, change around and give you different looks from the same components. Thats what I am working on right now and I'd really like to know what people think of the idea.
(Oh and send this around social media if you would, Facebook, Twitter and especially Pinterest.)
A winner will be chosen on Thursday morning when the second pair of example earrings goes up for give-away.
I love the idea of convertible earrings :) Based on my experience on Sat. they are sort of tricky to make (to ensure that both sides are left intact without getting pressed down). The looks are unlimited :) Your work is so beautiful !
ReplyDeleteThanks Lucie! Thats helps me think the process through for the next time I teach the class.
DeleteThese are genius, Genevieve! I love the versatility of them. I know I'm not alone in loving that I could get so many looks from one pair of earrings. Brilliant!! Though, even without the versatility, they are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love them ! In every combination ! I too thought about switchable parts in jewerly , but never tried to make them myself. Not surprisingly I think it is a great idea !
ReplyDeleteI love any kind of interchangeable fashion, including jewelry, Genevieve... these are wonderful! I shared at Polymer Clay Collective FB:

Thanks so much everyone!
Deletem(i)e if you try your own design of switchable jewelry I'd love to see them!
Thank you Monique - I'll head over to check out the FB group!
Love the idea! I pinned too. I would be doing a happy dance on a hill if I won one of your gorgeous pieces. Thank you for the giveaway. I have experimented with magnetic interchangeable jewelry and art (on my Pinterest board). I adore being able to change it up a little. -Marlene Brady
ReplyDeleteI wish I could take a class from you Genevieve. These earrings are a great idea. I think all three elements together is my favorite look, but I especially love that there are reversible textures and designs. I would even make a chain to go with it, so that any elements not worn on the ears can be worn as a necklace. You could even offer add-ins, such as the chains, or charms; some subtle bling in the form of Swarovski crystals, or pyrite, for example...so that the pieces could be dressed up for evening.
ReplyDeleteI happened to see these on Pinterest, I think they are wonderful - I'd love to win them!
ReplyDeleteAlready pinned these on Pinterest because I like them. I'll pin again and mention your giveaway! I live the idea of being able to change components. I think it's really neat that you have textured the sides differently. Lots of possiblilities.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous earrings. Love the versatility, the ingenuity and the "essence of Williamson" that comes through so loud and clear. Would join Marlene in that happy dance! ( I love Marlene's turn of phrase and her blog is a joy too!)
ReplyDeleteFabulous, unusual, imaginative idea - just love them!
ReplyDeleteReally great idea - love that pieces cam be combined based on mood to create different looks - also like that components can be flipped over to reveal different patterns/finishes. Maybe different metallic finishes (e.g. Silvertone, goldtone, bronze) would be nice in the mix - again to correspond to one's mood or the colours being worn
ReplyDeleteUsually I don't like the bright polymer jewelry very much (even when well made, they're not my taste), but your different approach is wonderful! And then they are versatile too, you are amazing and I would love to win & wear them, I'd pull my hair back, so nobody could miss these beauties!
ReplyDeleteYour earrings are gorgeous! I love the fact and that they're convertible, it's like getting multiple pairs in one! Woohoo! Thank you for this amazing giveaway, pretty please count me in!
