"Castles and ruins and really old things."

Thats what our boys said they wanted to see when we asked them how we should plan for our trip to the UK. In the past 10 days I think we've delivered with 7 castles, a priory, 2 churches and topping it off with a stone circle yesterday afternoon. (Of course that isn't even counting all the ruins you can see while just driving around or while on the train.)

Bamburgh Castle

If you have all the money to build a castle, who wouldn't put it right on the beach? Ok, yeah, pretty good for defending the coast too.

Samuel said "oh my gosh Mom don't ever breathe on this table." See said table below.

I love textures - spent a while studying the cracks in this rock on the beach.

    1. Ah Gill we just missed you. We've traveled south now, making our way down the Yorkshire coast and going to see friends in Cambridge so I believed we passed Morpeth on the A1. Northumberland is fantastic - you are very blessed to live there and we definitely hope to return!

    1. Yeah "castle on the beach" is an ideal location! And we were surprised by the expanse of beach there in relation to the few people on it on such a lovely day. You can park in the all day car park, walk around outside the castle, enjoy the beach and it doesn't cost you a thing! I think I'd go every nice weekend if I lived close enough.
I'll be clearing out when I get home - traveling always reminds me of how LITTLE I actually need ;-)
