Necklace washed away

Since I leave most of my found necklaces in place, I've always wanted to stretch the idea a bit further by photographing a piece being carried away by the tide. I tried it once before and learned the lesson to never look away because I did indeed turn my head - just once - to talk to my husband and missed the shot I had been kneeling in the sand waiting over half and hour for.

This sequence found me standing in the cold ocean water, fearing the fading daylight, fighting off mosquitoes. (A very wet spring has made for a bad bug situation in Maine this year.)

Here I actually condensed the number of photos from a total of 51 to just 16. (It just occurred to me though that a flip book with all of them would be interesting.)

The waiting and watching the tide was meditative and the whole experience a good lesson in 

letting go.

Observation

An artist's job is to observe and I've noticed that all of these grey and white textures/patterns have found me over the past month.

Photo shoot

The overcast, foggy, "blahness" that has taken over southern Pennsylvania has actually been perfect light for outdoor photo shoots (surely, it must be good for something) and I was fortunate to have model Phoebe and my niece/photographer Sarah Repp to help me out this week.

The package of samples should actually arrive at the Philadelphia ANTHROPOLOGIE office today. I re-wrote the cover letter four times and re-packed the box five times. (The box was free from the lady at the post office who wanted to make sure I had just the right box. A great reminder of why is nice to live in a small town :-)

Although I'll be waiting to hear from them, it will be a very active kind of waiting while I wrestle with the camera over the next couple of days. I decided to hire out and have a tech savvy young person work on my website and straighten up the blog. I need to get the photos together though and one thing I know I'm really lacking in is model shots.

One week to go

Its hard to believe we have one week left in the UK. Sad. is what it is. There is so much to see. I recommend a year or more if you can afford it. Which we can't. 

And with that I'll say that my Etsy shop is back up and running. All in stock items will ship July 9.

I'm finally working on an About page for my Etsy shop. I was hoping for some better natural light today to take photos on my actual work table but despite what the calendar says is so cold and overcast here in PA. Spring, where are you?
