New recycled earrings

There's a new batch of Redeemed, recycled earrings now in the shop but people tend to snatch them up pretty quickly so if you're interested in a particular pair I would say don't be hasty.

My next batch will be available at ACC Baltimore next month.

New recycled earrings

I'm heavy into a new batch of recycled earrings right now. How I love this creative challenge, laying out pieces of cured, leftover clay and looking for earring designs "hidden" there within the scrap. I cut larger pieces down, pair up shapes and then set about altering surface with carving or color.

Many of the finished pairs will be headed to my November show, Craft + Design in Richmond, but I will post a selection in my online shop Oct. 6 as well...and I'm offering free shipping for folks on my email list ($7 off international shipping) that weekend too so sign up here if you're interested.

Found jewelry

I enjoy assembling found jewelry pieces so much that I've started to arrange travel plans around locations that might prove to have engaging"ingredients". And I'm married to a person who fully goes along with this though so we're good.

Although I use anything available and sometimes, in all honesty, trash can be disturbingly compelling, I was relieved to have found very little trash in Maine a few weeks ago. What was there was mostly fishing/lobstering related (not surprising).

I dispose of the trash (recycling when possible) but often leave the natural pieces in place. (Yes, I bring home a few treasures sometimes but after 50 years of picking up stones and shells I've become rather discerning.)

I watched this particular piece get washed away by the rising tide. Will plan ahead and film this part of the process the next time.

In Saint Helena last year I arranged a necklace of fish scales that blew away in the wind before I could even get a decent photo, "temporariness" certainly being part of this process. It can be both melancholy and freeing at the same time.

I hope you have a great week! I'm taking a couple days away from the studio to savor the dwindling summer before my husband goes back to work next week.

Recycled, Redeemed earrings

The new batch of recycled, Redeemed earrings are live in the shop! Each pair is one of a kind so when they are gone...they're gone.

Although you might see a Redeemed brooch or two pop up sometime soon, this is the last batch of these earrings I'll make until fall of this year. I have some big projects I've been mulling over and this summer is the time to start work on them.

New recycled earrings

The one-of-a-kind Redeemed earrings on my website were getting low so I'll be adding another 25+ this coming Wednesday.  There's a surprising amount of red in this batch - its not a color I use often but I'm really happy with how they turned out.

For the first time I've made several pairs of smaller, post earrings for anyone who'd rather not have a drop or dangle - so light you don't even know you have them on.
