Active Waiting

So ANTHROPOLOGIE asked for a line sheet in July, they asked for samples in November, LOVED the samples in November and now, now I'm waiting. Waiting to hear if the price point is right and if they can accept the quantity I can produce.

I wasn't even going to share this, thinking that if it all goes pear shaped, am I really going to want to talk about it openly? But that sounds sort of like failure thinking, doesn't it?

And either way, this is not a failure. They're talking about 2000 pieces and my jewelry in all stores. That is not a failure. The fact that I can not produce 2000 pieces in two and a half months is also not a failure...but it SURE as heck gives one pause for thought!

I think I might be at a juncture. Stand by.

  4. Waiting is always so hard. I have been following along and always meaning to leave a quick note but usually one of the kids have an emergency... Rooting for you! Your pieces are stunning and it would be their loss if they decided not to take them. Wishing you the best! I still think you should put together a few detailed tutorials and sell them. Your colors are stunning and the technique you are using is wonderful. There are plenty of newbies (like me) who would love to see books or lessons on how to achieve certain organic looks. There are way too many on cute clay animals already ;)

    1. Thanks for taking time to chat today Dora! I get the kid emergency thing ;-)
I'm considering some sort of tutorials or ebook or something like that next year. It might depend on how all of this plays out and how it effects my workload.

    2. That would be so fantastic! However, I understand if putting together an e-book has to wait so you could make many Anthropologie shoppers happy! By the way, have you ever considered listing some beads for sale in smaller lots for jewelry makers?

    3. I do sell beads from time to time but the problem is I usually make beads with a "plan" in mind, my own project, so then I have trouble with the idea of letting them go.

  5. Gen, Gen, Gen. So excited for you. Your work is amazing and it is no surprise that they want all they can get. Thanks for your vulnerability and authenticity. Sometimes we think that is we don't talk about it, people won't know how disappointed or elated we are depending on the result. But this is life Genevieve and sharing it is part of the package. Whatever happens, to ha begot to this point is magnificent. I am sure for YOUR work, they will be prepared to negotiate on numbers. Or else you can employ pixies! Big hugs, Wendy

    1. Thanks Riley! I do actually have one "in house" elf lined up but I think I'd need 4 and the work space to put 'em!

  9. Wah. Terrifying and wonderful at the same time ;-) I hope they can accept a smaller amount and don't try to beat you down on price and all that big store stuff you read about.
    Very best of luck.
