Success

I think I can say that the Saturday polymer class was a success! I have to admit to having been fretful about the whole thing. I loathe speaking in public. Loathe it. So by Friday night I was laying in bed thinking "why did I agree to this?"

I totally forgot to take photos until the end but here L. is modeling her 3 part earrings - she did an excellent job!

I faltered through the intro, I think,  I don't know. Its a blur. But I had planned that 75% of class time would be 8 students at tables, playing and messing about and that was a wise decision because I really like, and seem to be pretty good at, walking around and talking about each person's work, sharing ideas, addressing design issues. I say I'm pretty good at it only because students told me so…and enthusiastically asked when we can do a full day class. So a "full day with break for lunch" kind of thing is being considered for sometime this winter, maybe February.

My husband, the confident, fully trained, professional teacher of 16 years, just stayed in the background and kept two ovens timed and running perfectly. Afterward he provided gentle critique and we talked about what I could have done differently. What a guy!

I donated a copy of the book and its being cataloged and will be out on the shelves soon…our local library's first polymer clay book.

I'll do one pair of my example earrings as a give-away here tomorrow and one Thursday. See you then!

Almost there now

For those of you who haven't heard yet, Cynthia Tinapple's bookPolymer Clay Global Perspectives, Emerging techniques and ideas from 125 international artists is now ready for pre-order on Amazon with a release date of July 30!  (That's my project - interchangeable earrings - top row, second from the left!) I will be somewhere else on the globe at that time but will be home soon afterward and I hope to have a book event at my local library not long after that.
